Reverse Engine Records was founded in 2000 for the express purpose of releasing independent music by a Los Angeles-based lo-fi home recording collective. RER has released extremely limited edition CD-Rs and/or netaudio albums since 2001.
Of late, RER has aimed to bridge the gap between the copyleftist netlabel community and the more mainstream independent music scene. Thus far, this partnership has led to two upcoming compilations, "Artsongs" and "Sneaky Flute Moods: A Tribute To The Swirlies", which will reach Archive.org in 2011.
