Doin' The Raps (Part 1) - D3Zs [rfl005]

try new player!embedding and help

Once upon a time (2004) in a galaxy far, far away (Kyoto), Highsnow and Crazy D under their crew name 'Pant Rhymez', were billed at the same event as Cheese.

Cheese (originally from Canada) had just moved into Kyoto from Kagoshima where he was working on projects with KFC and Marphex as well as the Vancouver Hamburger Crew.

During the sound check Cheese was amazed by the Pant Rhymez' performance, and after the show he approached Highsnow and started a conversation.

This lead to six albums of material and gangloads of live shows throughout Japan.

At the same time via the internet on a site known as AP, Highsnow, Crazy D, KFC and Cheese joined forces to make tracks with: 34pro, James Esco and S-Master and the CBW, Blackeyed Productions, Dj Dunci, ABT, Trackhouse, Dj Phoney, Biggathomas, Hangman, T-Pick, Pot-C and of course Phreniq!

In an effort to consolidate all this hip hop energy under one universal title, the name "D3Zs" was formulated during a runaway tangent over
the phone between Cheese and KFC, which works out into: Dr Zueses Zeppin Zircus. Of course there's no connection whatsoever to anything in general.

But at the time Cheese was fascinated by the word Zeppin which means "the best" in Japanese. The acronym was invented before its separate parts were thought of, which explains why they spelt circus with a Z, (or maybe it doesn't really explain anything: you choose).

Well, we hope you enjoy the album. Drive safe - and above all - LOVE HIP-HOP!

Hip-hop might have been born in the Bronx, NY but boy has she blossom in a globe trotting juggernaut. This album is proof that Hip-Hop is alive and well and no matter where you from, you can fully express yourself through Hip-Hop music. Always been a fan, glad that I can finally have an official copy of the great D3Zs material. Let's keep proving these doubters wrong.

I couldn't really have imagined how good it would feel to be pumping tracks like this out into the world...but here we are three months after launch and we're on the verge of 11k downloads...incredible.

This album is a beauty - and I'm so proud to raise the curtain on it. Just enjoy.
