Subject: My Fave of 2005

The show from The Sphere is my favorite show from 2005. The sound quality is great, the mood is awesome. This is the second RA show I obtained. (11-28-2002 was the first) But this was the first one that I grabbed from the Archive. I got this one just before "29" came out. I was really, really digging Strawberry Wine from this show. So much so, that once "29" dropped I felt the "official" version of Strawberry Wine was not as good.

Thanks to the taper for taping and sharing this great show.

Ive never heard Ryan Adams before, but im listening to the Wharf Rat cover and its really tight. Props to Ryan Adams and his respect for the Dead. nice cover buddy.

Subject: Very good recording of very good show

The taper has done a great job here (thanks). The show is excellent with Ryan and the band playing steadily through a load of new material (some of the audience eventually rebel, demanding something they know and get a Johnny Cash number before more familiar stuff). Ryan's ramblings in the second set are a bit of a concern. He must have been a bit "tired" or something...
PS Heard this again a few times since submitting the above and revised the rating from 4 to 5. It's that good.
PPS Back down to a 4 when compared to the excellent Northern Lights show. Still well worth the download.

Subject: Best of 2005 so far

By far the best recorded show of this year so far, a touch muddy and haven't listened enough to really properly weigh in on the performance, there are a few songs not played that I miss...I would say 4.5 but a round up to 5 is cool as it is the best of 05 in my opinion so far...hopefully they'll be more and better to come....thanks so much for this one!!!!

Notes

KM184 > V2 \
EMagic A62 > laptop (Kristal 4x24/44.1)
*soundboard/

*From Ryan's recording mixer - not a straight board.
Board sends were mixed with a pair of crowd facing
onstage mics at either side. It's mostly board though.

Mic Config:
------------------------------------------------------------
(75ยบ/20cm, 60', FOB, DFC, 8'up)

Post-Mixing:
------------------------------------------------------------
CEP 2.1 (32 bit mixdown) > Waves L2 (dither) > CDWave > flac

Editing Notes:
------------------------------------------------------------
1. Ryan took some time to change a bandage on his hand after
d2t03, This, along with another gap were edited out so
the second set would fit on one CD.
2. The accoustic portion of the 2nd set was also boosted by
12dB to make the cd more listenable without jumping for
the volume knob when the band comes back!
