the Jeremy Irons Project (or J.I.P.) was a rock n' rollin' band from Santa Rosa, California that featured Cory Thrall (also of the Catnips, the drone., darph/nadeR, more...), Jared Butler (also of darph/nadeR, more...), Mike Teuscher (from the Catnips, the drone., more...), Doyle Smotherman (from the Black Yen), and Dan Goodsell on drums.
the J.I.P.'s first album, and the VERY FIRST samsa records release (on CDr, back in 1999) was "technoISdisco", the re-release you find here. this album was quick to sell out of it's small run (i think 27 or so were made, maybe more), and many of these songs became live favorites for the band's entire career.....from the rawkin' and rollin' of "damage" and "the rat boy" - to the punk-ish force of "insert coin" and "room 101" - and even going into experimental rockin' with such songs as "devil's crack shack", "fx", and "i am ze bear (version 2)".....the first 4 songs are LIVE at Bottom of the Hill (San Francisco, California), and the remaining 4 songs were recorded in a studio in Glen Ellen, California (the studio where Steve Miller recorded "Abracadabra"! hey, the "gold record" type thingie was even on the wall there!)......
the J.I.P. lived, breathed, performed, and recorded from Jan. 1997 to Dec. 2000, and we here at samsa are proud to be re-releasing the first installment in the J.I.P. discography! enjoy!!!
