absolute poetry. ingested 4 hits LSD 10 minutes to showtime and during jellyfish things started to get real crazy. the vibe was great, great jams, although a touch more of bluegrass wouldve been a nice mix. When keller came out for stayin alive> best feeling> pack it up, he was transformed into travolta from saturday night fever. awesome. please come back with keller

Subject: Bonnaroo
Rechem hit the nail on the head with his post below. The Bonnaroo Incident had a great potential yet ended up falling through the cracks as a subpar performance. The mediocre setlist and redundant trance noodle jamming had a lot of people wanting more of the old school cheese. A shame that such a great band appears to be going out in a fizzle rather than a bang... For a great string of festival performances be sure to check out their appearance at The Jerry Garcia Birthday Bash on Aug 6-8 2004, available here on the archive. Those are some of the best sets played in the last 4 years.

Subject: Amazing
This show was the only reason I drove 12 hours for the roo. They did what they said they would do and "set saturday night off with a bang". Amazing!!! Now I'm off to big summer classic

Although SCI wasn't my fav of Roo this year, their performances will always pull me in. Good vibe, good show (4 stars). Other than the clipping on the waveform, which can be edited easily, the recording(4 stars) puts me right back at Which Stage! Thanks to the taper for your hard work.

Subject: frthron is clueless
frthron, clearly you werent at 10KLF last year either. they had PA problems for the first set becuase they used their own rig... second set was fine... Cheese was on fire the entire show... try being front row for something like that and then bitch about how disapointed you are

Subject: missing the point....
i Think some of the reviewers here are missing the point of the reviews. A poor review isnt critizing them or being judgemental or anything. Some shows are better than others, and most people that brose LMA dont have time to listen to every single show. Some recordings arent great either, and the reviews are there to guide browsers to what the show was like. Most of the time, a show can be really really fun if you are there, but that energy doesnt always transfer to the recording. A 5 star rating is usually given to a show thats just full of energy, played exceptionally well, and is a good quality tape. a 1 star rating is not saying that the show wasnt fun... just that you wouldnt recomend this show to a listener as a good example of the cheese at their finest.

For me personally, i browse this site all the time and the critical reviews are the usefull ones. When every show is rated by people who were there saying they had fun i cannot tell which are good, and often i DL the show and it is uninspired (the cheese dont pretend to be ON every night) and a waste of time.

.. A little ranting never hurt anybody, right?
But a bit of positive never hurt either, so if you want a good DL, get shows from 1998 and noblesville IN in 2004. Those are some of my fav. Have fun, and dont use the 5 star unless the actual tape of the show that you are listening to is just phenominal.

Subject: perhaps not the best cheese show but a damn good time
While as most would agree Cheese isn't what it once was, this show was by no means exceptionally good but it was definitely a good time. Pretty fun crowd but a little more subdued than I'd expect at Roo at a cheese show. I think it's at least worth a listen.

Subject: sound
hey Music Junkie...were you at 10klf last year? If so then you should remember how terrible cheese sounded. That the crowd in front of the stage was yelling "turn it up" throughout most of the show. The band even looked around at times like what the hell is going on. The same with Keller and cheese the next night, you could barely hear it. These problems were not present during the phil show. Hopefully cheese uses the house system this year instead of their own! have fun

Subject: Bonnaroo Incident
Let's face it, it was great for those of us SCI fans who won't get to see them ever again to cap it off at a late night Bonnaroo set. The fact is, the sound was off, the huge crowd was surprisingly not into it except for the diehards at the front, and the song selection was mediocre at best. Of course there were a few gems (let's hope so in a full, two-set show) including the Jellyfish > Just One Story and the Howard bookend-ed second set. As long as I've been waiting to see Keller come out with Cheese, it did not live up to the expectation and I thought the "Stayin' Alive" choice was pretty cheap for such a big occasion. The 70s theme video behind it was cool and the "Best Feeling" that followed is always a treat. Playing Farther in the encore made my ears bleed. That song is terrible, and Nershi should shelf that song on the final tour. Four Stars on the Recording, 3 Stars on the show itself, and five total because it is still a thrill to see these guys play live music.

I was not able to make it to roo this year...Too many other good fest to go too...I cant believe all the negativity posted for this show. What about the Big Compromise? The boys are doin what they wanna do...Thats why i like'em! Cant wait till tha throw down at Zoe!

Subject: Thought it was good!
Although this wasn't the best SCI show I've seen (nor did I see all of it), I thought it was quite good. I LOVE the electronic/techno-y/ambient sounds. To me, that's what makes their shows as good as they are. Of course, that's also why I spent most of the night at STS9. Enjoy!

Subject: Dont Give up yet
It is sad to hear that this wasnt a great or even moderately good incident. Though, there may be alot of SCI fans that say that the boys dont have it any more, The String Cheese still has a few more shows and another festival (10klf). So lets all have faith in them. Lets hope the boys used this as a learning experience to steer away from unconventional cheese. Last year at the 10k Lakes Fest Cheese ripped up the Main stage showing up Phil & Friends and oh poor boy Trey (sorry bud). So let congregate on the upcoming Cheese Incidents so maybe we can all get a peice of the old Cheese before they call it quits a.k.a. or just a short brake.

Agreeing with former poster that this show was a bit techno for my liking. But I guess that was also the late night factor involved there. So happy to finally get to see Keller with them! Although a sub-par SCI show, still a highlight of my 'roo!

Subject: ugh
I guess compared to other 2007 shows this is better, but as a huge SCI fan, I was NOT impressed with this show. It was like they catered to the 'Roo crowd (which isn't a typical SCI audience) and went WAY too spacey and electronic. It just seems sloppy and "uncheese" in a lot of places. And what's up with random drum beats that don't fit into anything throughout this show??
