Subject: Mormon Blasphemy Tract
Subject: Mormon Blasphemy Tract
Christian church.
Christians have long maintained that Mormonism teaches a Jesus that is different from what the Bible reveals. Of course, the Mormons say that they believe in the same Jesus that originally walked on the earth and is revealed in the Bible. Though they may make this claim, it is up to them to prove it. Especially in light of what Mormonism says about God and Jesus.
In Mormonism, Jesus is a creation, the product of relations between god and his goddess wife who used to be people from another world (McConkie, Bruce, Mormon Doctrine, p. 192, 321, 516, 589). Jesus is the literal spirit brother of the devil and you and I (McConkie, p. 192, 589). Also, in Mormon theology, God has a body of flesh and bones (Doctrine & Covenants 130:22) as does his wife, and together they produce spirit offspring in heaven who inhabit human bodies on earth.
Very few, if any, of the 'different' Mormon doctrines, are found in their Standard Works: the Bible, The Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price. Rather, they are taught by Mormons of high standing: prophets, apostles, members of the 70 Quorum. McConkie, for example, was a member of the 70's Quorum, a very high ranking Mormon and wrote the book, Mormon Doctrine, from which much of the documentation for this is taken.
President Hinkley, the prophet and revelator of the Mormon church, has publicly declared that the Jesus of Mormonism and traditional Christianity are not the same. Let's take a look at the difference between the Mormon Jesus and the one of Traditional Christianity:
The Mormon Blasphemy Jesus
The literal son of god and his goddess wife begotten in the pre-existence.
The brother of all spirits born in heaven in the premortal existence.
One of 3 gods in the godhead.
The Trinity is three separate gods.
First one to receive a spirit body.
Atoned for sin on the cross and in the garden of Gethsemane.
Had 4 wives and several children.
The Christian Jesus
Not the literal son of god and his goddess wife.
Not the brother of all spirits born in heaven in a premortal existence.
Not one of 3 gods in the godhead.
The Trinity is 3 persons in one God.
Was always spirit from eternity.
Atoned for sin on the cross alone.
This brief comparison should help you see the difference between the two view of Christ. Jesus cannot be both the literal sexually begotten son of god and not the literal sexually begotten son. He cannot be both one of 3 gods and not one of 3 gods. They are different. In fact, it would be a lot easier if the Mormons called him by a different name. That way, it would be easier to tell them apart.
Mormonism definitely does not teach the same Jesus as Christianity and this tract is a good smoking gun.

Subject: Collection of tracts distributed by missionaries -Volume 2
Subject: Collection of tracts distributed by missionaries -Volume 2
The contents of this volume are representative of the information distributed by missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the time of publication (1911) as far back, in some cases, as sixty years.
The availability of this material may be of value to those with family members who were missionaries for the Church near the turn of the century, converted to faith near this time, or were exposed to the teachings of the Church by meeting with Latter-day Saint missionaries.
The editor, Ben E. Rich, was President of the Southern States Mission July 1898 until July 1908. During his time as president of the mission, his office was located in Chattanooga, Tennessee and for a short time in Atlanta, Georgia. Includes an interview with Ben E. Rich published in the article from the Atlanta Constitution, March 26, 1899.
Contains several responses from Rich to Protestant minsters. Most include bold statements similar to this gem in a December 1899 letter from Rich to Rev. J. Whitcomb Brougher of First Baptist Church of Chattanooga, Tennessee:
"WE BELIEVE IN MANY GODS."
"We solemnly plead guilty to believing in many Gods. If this is a crime it is time for a new translation of the Holy Scriptures. Does not the good book say "and God said, let us make man in our own image ?" What are you going to do with the words "us" and "our" in this Scripture? Does this not prove a plurality of Gods? Ex. 15-11 says "who is like unto Thee, O Lord, among the gods?" Deut. 10-17: "Lord, your God is God of gods and Lord of lords." Paul also refers to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, 1 Tim. 6-15, also see 2 Chron. 2-5, Psalms 86-8, Dan. 2-47, Dan. 4-8, Dan. 11-36. If you desire any more Scripture on this subject we will be pleased to give you chapter and verse. Notwithstanding we believe that there are many Gods, we worship only one God, the Father of Jesus Christ. Our enemies do not put it in this light, do they? The Devil is anxious to have you believe a lie and be damned.”
High rating for the historical value of this rare volume.
