Subject: I own a hard cover original of this book
Subject: I own a hard cover original of this book
My book has
Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1873, by
Clark Johnson, M.D., Jersey City, N.J.,
In the office of the Librarian of Congress, at Washington
Lange Little and Hillman
Printers, Electrotypers and Stereotypers
108 to 114 Wooster Street N. Y.
It has a signature of Edwin Eastman on the first chapter page above his picture.
I have read this book several times. A compelling story of his personal experience in captivity of he and his wife..
Entertaining and sad at the same time..
I noticed some saying this is a book of fiction but I don 't feel that is the case after reading it..I could be wrong..
On the last page of the story under the typed words "the end" is penned " the end of a hard struggle" that is on page 309..
The book is very old and has a hard brown cover with the title etched across the front..the back cover has some Lacey designs etched in it..
Wondering if I have an original first copy

I have not been able to find anywhere that this book is anything other than E. Eastman's autobiography. It is listed under biography and history. One would also need to explain how he and his wife got their facial tattoos. If some things seem fantastic, it may be because readers are unfamiliar with the location and the people.
It's a well-written, entertaining, and sometimes even humorous account of abducted would-be pioneers in the early days of the Oregon Trail.

Subject: A Quick Note-
I'm looking at this work now and while quite enjoyable as it stands, those who are about to download "Seven and nine years among the Camanches and Apaches" by Edwin Eastman ought to know that it is a work of FICTION.
