Subject: One of Hitchcock' best

This is one of Hitchcock' best and most important movies. What a great thing it's available here! The most striking aspect in this movie - except for it's amazing suspense and perfect direction - is the doubling of nearly every element: Everything here has it's shadow. Watch out for it - most obvious is the doubled "Charlie", but there is much more. Like in "Strangers on a train", we can watch the fight between, but also the overlapping of two quite opposite forces. Only one element is single and unique: different from the doubled elements, it circulates between the two sides and is highly important for both: the ring.

One of the best movies of one of the best directors ever - a must-see.

Subject: Strange

Something seems to be missing in this film around 51 minutes. Charlie and the detective go out of the grill laughing, and in the next scene, suddenly she's accusing him of being a detective and spying on them. How did she come to that conclusion? Something seems to be missing between the scenes.

Not so much a review here, but noting that we are writing and discussing the opening sequence at American Yodas, here: http://kinowords.edublogs.org
