A Year of Silence is a year-long field recording project, adapted from the John Cage piece 4’33”. Every week for one year, at a random time I recorded four minutes and thirty-three seconds onto a mini disc. The sounds recorded are mostly the mundane sounds of home; voices of my family, tea being made, baths being poured. In the first track, all 52 recordings are mixed togther, overlaying these incidental sounds to create sound art out of the mundane. The other tracks feature the recordings from each month of the project mixed together into preliminary tracks.
