Signal Noise - Still Images (January 17, 2007)

Signal:Noise is the musical catalyst of Jamie Baker - fresh from his recent appearance on the Future State of Rhythm compilation Jamie delivers one of the finest works in his arsenal.

Drawing from a wide range of influences from IDM, Industrial. broken beat to classical and ambient, Jamie's evocative sound is a hybrid collection of scorched circuitry and heart rending orchestral arrangements that are equally frenetic and utterly contemplative. Swathes of textured ambience float over an aching piano line that command an emotional, human element - dense pads and beats and breaks are expertly layered, to create a work that is unique and truly his own. The release in complemented by remixes by Sickmoth and Equal Wasteland - each adding there own compelling cut.

Jamie's production style can best be described as organic - a sound lab prodigy, the tools of his craft are painstakingly modified and tweaked to produce his eclectic sound - 'Still Images' is an introspective, insightful electronic work, and essential listening from this Southampton artist.

This music is mind numbing repetitious
garbage. Funny to say the piano adds
a human element. This is cpu generated.
Their is nothing human about it which
may snd cool but it's boring and it
doesn't sound like much effort was
put into it. It just loops over and
over and after about ten minutes a
new boring snd will fade in. Who
would actually listen to this?

the original mix is a really cool soundscape. it captures you and never lets go. then a cool beat comes in, and the track spirals baby!!!very nice touch! :D

the sickmoth remix is weird and quirky, with nice atmospheres!!!! crunchy guitars and wonderful new transitions, beats mangled and frantic edits make this a ride you can't forget.

the equal wasteland remix is emotive in the intro, and then breaks into a spoken robot transition. slamming rythmn down your throat. you are now officially remixed!!!! :D what a wonderful journey.
