Subject: end of hiatus
first show back after the longest touring hiatus simplicity has taken in 5 years (3 months)... great to see them back, with a whole assortment of new tunes and gear. highlights of the show for me were at the end of the day, broke string, a thousand times, thirsty, and trainwreck... can't wait til april 28th, when they pair up with brothers past in detroit!

Subject: new songs!
What an great show! First set was AMAZING, the new material is really strong! Best of the new material is Broke String, Ego Straight, and 1000 Times. These 3 songs comprise some of the best material Simplicity has every written IMO, and that's saying a lot! ATEOTDWTNDN may belong on that list as well.
Second set is great as well, with one of the best versions of Absolution I've heard (partly thanks to Frank's bass part). Great selection of tunes. Nice addition to Baby Jesus on Steve's part. Dragonslayer is pretty good as well--this song is possibly TOO catchy! The addition of an acoustic, a lap steel and bass octave pedal are all great improvements, and expand their palette of sounds dramatically. As for the sound of the recording, it's pretty good, and even better thanks to a few minor adjustments. If you like Simplicity, this show is essential listening.

Subject: the new stuff smokes
the first set of this long awaited return of the Simplicities Smokes...all new stuff+ fab fun fan favourite getaway car...holy K'Moly
the second set rocks don't get me wrong, and there's something in here for everyone...the call and response feel of baby jesus is almost like the call and response feel of baby jebus himself...Tops...Thirsty made me thirsty... dragonslayer combines the best of balkan postmodernism with every boys wurst nighmares
highly recomended
