The recording quality of this show is incredible. The playing is ethereal. Steve Kimock plays each note with conviction. Each tune, while instrumental, sounds so lyrical and complete to me. It's great to have such a nice copy of this.

Sound = phenomenal. Little to no crowd noise, and everyone is balanced. Tom gets lost in the mix now and then (Poonk, for instance), but he's right out in front during his solos, so can't ask for much more than that.

Where to start? This show is a scorcher from beginning to end, and it has so many faces. Quite jazzical in some places (It's Up To You, Severe Tire Damage, MPH, Footprints), quite funky in other places (Ludicrisp, Poonk/Cissy Strut), and a sprinkle of mellow thrown in for good measure (Many Rivers, Ice Cream).

Rodney takes two solos in It's Up To You, and he is, in general, the all-star of the night - listen to his work on STD and you'll see what I mean.

My favorite pieces in the show are without a doubt the fantastic Bad Hair to open, the short but sweet You're The One, and Many Rivers to Cross. Steve leaves one in awe on all three.

Playing = A. Sound = A+.

SSIA.
this is just awesome. If there were a 20 star rating, i'd give it that.
Poonk > Cissy > Poonk is amazing.
STD is out of site...but its the Hillbillies that takes the cake!

fwiw, this is Tom Coster on keys and not Pete Sears.
lineup was:
Steve K
Rodney Holmes
BobZilla Vega
Tom Coster

I have quite a few Steve Kimock shows and I can write from experience that it doesn't get any better than this 12-1-00 show. In terms of technical quality, it sounds like an official release. In terms of musical quality, the band is at the top of their game. This show takes place at what was once New York's most beloved jamband club, the Wetlands. Amongst many unusual song selections, "Severe Tire Damage" is other worldly. Many moments are surpringly and delightfully jazzy. This is a five star show in every regard.

The tracking for the individual files is way off. Can somebody fix this for those of us who dont like zips?

I have been into SKB for the last 4 years. Very heavy these last 2 years and have not heard a show like this one b4. Very good song selection, nice funky-edge to the night; but that same Kimock magic. I think what makes this one so nice is that it is just Kimock on guitar, also an organ makes it Smooooothed out. Very nice recording. If you are into SKB or just getting exposed to him, check this one out for sure. peace.

Another smoking show. This one is really worth having. Absolutely the hottest Hillbillies, Severe Tire Damage, and Mr. Pot Head versions ever.
