This was all recorded at 'Slopryland', Sloppy Joe's jamming zone at the Suwannee Springfest 2009 (near Live Oak, Florida). 1-7 were recorded on MiniDisc (microphone gaffer taped to the end of my saz), 8-19 on a mono cassette recorder (which had been earlier run over by a motorcycle!) "The Moon Song" is by Michael Hurley. The first version was recorded while Stef and Lynn were trying to read the lyrics off a paper plate Stef had earlier scribbled them on. "Wooden Ships" is the David Crosby song (James singing) "Ooh La La" is the Faces song (Stef singing) "Come from the Heart" is a Kathy Mattea song (Stef singing) "Mr. Charlie" is the Grateful Dead song (James singing) "Jumbalaya (On the Bayou)" is a Hank Williams song (not sure who's singing, but Stuart McNair is on accordion) "Pretty Boy Floyd" is the Woddy Guthrie song "All I Can Do Is Write About It" is a Lynyrd Skynyrd(!) song (sung by Stef) "Lullaby" was written by Jaimee Tomas "Building a Fire" is by Stuart McNair (sung by Stef) "A Long Black Veil" is the Johnny Cash song (sung by Sam) "Stuff that Works" is by Guy Clark (sung by Stef) "Smilin'" was written by Bryan Abernathy (formerly of Sloppy Joe), sung by Stef "Cluck Old Hen" is traditional (sung by Gavin) "The Truth Will Set You Free" is of unknown origin (sung by Stef) The "unknown country song" was sung by an unknown woman in a cowboy hat on Sunday night "Big Ass Garage" is by Fred Eaglesmith (singer unknown) "Good Enough for Now" is from "Weird" Al Yankovich's Polka Party album |
