yeha if the republic had won spain and defeated franco ww2 may never have happeend.
you see spain was the testing ground for the axis . they tested bombing they would use agianst britian there and the tested the blitzkreig they would use agianst poland and russia later in spain.
although russia france and the uk supported spain they didnt get involed ( the russians gave the republic some old wepons from the 1890s rusted and outdated)
america never got involved deciding to be isolationsit cost tem a lot.
but some indipendenat volunteers formed the abraham lincolin brigade and fought bravely against the fascists in spain takeing many towns and proving to be amazing street fighters,
in 1947
the survivors of the lincolin brigade were used as military consultants in france being more knowldgeable about nazi tactics than the american 4 star generals.

After WWII, America's point of view changed. You can see it in "Spanish Revolution Anniversary":

Subject: The bombing
Circa 1938 film summarizing events in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), aimed at American audiences. The film appears to use mainly silent newsreel and other footage, with music and obviously foleyed sound effects added. While the film is mainly from the Loyalists stand point, there is also a bit curious pacificistic slant to it, keeping with the mood of the US at the time. However, if that is case, why was the film put together in the first place? Without the first reel to put the whole thing in context, it is hard to say.
Reel 3 of this film can be found elsewhere in the archive under {Possibly} Today and Yesterday.

With a title like Spain In Revolt, youÃÂáÃÂïd expect a boring Viva La Spain movie full of somewhat boring leaders and Spanish history. But NO! This is one really bizarre reel (the 2nd one apparently) of this movie, and itÃÂáÃÂïs quite a pip!
The film abruptly begins in the middle of a battle. I am not too sure who is battling who, maybe this is world war II? Anyways, theyÃÂáÃÂïre fighting a unnamed enemy and we see some neat, if unoriginal battlefield action. WhatÃÂáÃÂïs so amazing about this scene is that the sound effects are constantly repeated.. Artillery fire, followed up by a few bomb blasts. We see some battle footage happening, then some people walking calmly around, but STILL the sound effects are still going full tilt!! This is quite funny. The rest of the films deals with more maneuvers and also, the filmmaker begs us to watch something we probably havenÃÂáÃÂït seen before, as the battle marches on. What were we supposed to look at?
One final thing, the narration of this thing is, well, strange. Where did they find the narrator?
