Gordon WebberStalking the Wild Cranberry: the Making of a TV Commercial (1972)

This wonderful film traces the steps taken in creating and shooting a television commercial for Post Grape Nuts. This film was produced by George Gage Productions, which filmed the commercial, starring the legendary Euell Gibbons, for the Benton & Bowles advertising agency, with lots of discussions & outtakes. The funky "Cranberry Rag" played by pianist Paul McDonough is delightful.

Subject: How cool is this?
I remember that commercial. I was about 9 or 10 years old, and my dad and I would make fun of Euell Gibbons. I can still rememeber my dad impersonating him, "I'm Euell Gibbons. Many parts of this car battery are edible..."

Thanks for posting this and helping me remember some good times with my dad.

Subject: Very compelling mini-documentary. 5-stars!
This is great--honest and gracious portrayal of creative folks at work. It really makes you understand that advertising is a genuine art. (Too bad the cereal tastes like rocks.)
Thanks for this.
