Subject: I like the "hula dancing in America" reference

I can tell exactly which stri pclubs you've been to in Dallas based on that statement alone!

I work in the adult entertainment industry in Dallas, and I stumbled on this website by sheer accident one night. I love it for the historical archive of strippers and showing how far we've come in this business.

Prelinger has also earned my respect for his editing skills on other films!

Not bad collection of stag reels.. Only one of the girls takes off her top, the rest dance 'seductively' to 'music of other lands'. Most of these are very suspect to being native of these lands, like for example Alyce Bryce who wears a jungle costume on her head with a piece of unknown vegetation on her head while making hilarious facial expressions. Actually that, and the title card for Marie Voe, who is described as 'The Bombing Bombshell' are the the only highlights here.

Subject: Lascivious Wiggles
As this film shows, old time stripping was 80% spastic or lascivious wiggles and 20% peekaboo, compared to todays 90% nothing hidden and 10% gymnastics.

Any too vigorous movement by a woman (or at least a white one) was lewd once upon a time, and thus you see a very simplistic and uninspired vocabulary of movement passing for lewd art in this stripping film. Flailing about while dressed for the beach, or perhaps revealing a little more, was enough to classify one as "the other type of woman" and to earn a wage from it. When the Hula Hoop was invented, and little Jane and John started making the motions of coitus in the front yard, this vastly outstripped any kind of lasciviousness to the wiggles used in most stripping of the time and made it passe, except for the peekaboo part.

Thus perhaps the most apt subtitle for this film would be "Pre-Hula Hoop Stripping in America".

I'll give this a 5 star rating just cuz the one broad takes off her top! Now that I really think about it, this film was made so long ago that "broad" could be my grandma! Yuck!

Subject: Bit of a misnomer...
In olden days a hint of stocking was looked on as something shocking...

Not much stripping here actually. Only one topless dancer out of 4 relatively scantily clad ladies.

Sociologically interesting that red-blodded men used to queue to watch this in theaters (where was it shown?). In our jaded hard-core porn filled times, they would probably walk out in protest.

Subject: alright...
Its an Ok film.
its no betty page or anything... but there is one part where one of the "variety girls" does the funniest move.. she's in a bridge position and she starts "head-banging".

i laughed so hard.. so .. its worth a watch.
