Subject: good concert, muffled recording
A little bit muffled. Which is a shame because there are some great covers of Good Times,Bad Times and Time. Sounded like it was a great concert. 2 stars for the recording. Still appreciate the effort, though.

Subject: Two songs does not a medley make
The song identified as "Beatles Medley" should be more accurately titled "You Never Give Me Your Money / The End" since it incorporates only two songs by The Beatles (both from the album Abbey Road).

Subject: Awesome time...
I happened to be in LA at the time 'The D & Friends' played the Wiltern and somehow scored two tix right before the show. It was one of the craziest evenings I've ever witnessed. Since it was a benefit for the Tsunami victims, you could tell there was quite the party backstage because every time The D came out between the acoustic sets from Josh Homme, Dave Grohl, Beck and Eddie Vedder they were more and more plastered. Will Ferrell did a lip-synched Coldplay tune to make fun of Ashley Simpson, and even Chris Rock showed up with amazingly vulgar 10 min set. I thought The D was awesome that night--the Tommy medley was out of control--and the whole jam at the end blew the place up. Great Show!! Unfortunately the sound quality isn't too crisp, but it sounds exactly like the room did that night, so its worth the listen.

Subject: Definitely not the best
First, the sound quality:
Yeah, pretty bad. I can barely hear Kyle, and what I can hear is soaked in the room reverb, making it muddy. There's also some distortion in places, too. One thing that you can hear crystal clear, though, are the frat boy jerkwads sitting near the recordist who scream with pleasure at each "F" word.
OK, so the recordist had a seat in the back. I could over look it, but, unfortunately, the bad news is that this is an uninspired set from the D. They whip through songs, almost as if they'd just as soon get the show over with. Jack's vocals are pretty flat and lifeless for the most part.
The last bit at the end with the "super band" probably would have been incredible live, but just doesn't come across through the recording. And while there are funny moments, I've definitely heard better D concerts, both musically and sonically, on this archive.

Subject: twilight zone starring the D
i guess if i had not heard their new material on a previous boot i would be thrilled about this show, but i have heard all that and then some...however, they did mix it up by playing with a full band at the end of the set..it could have sounded better for sure..instead, came off very awkward and strange sounding...oh well,, as a big D fan i was just happy to see some more shows flowing

Hadn't heard the Dude I totally miss you yet.
I have the complete masterworks and the first D CD- the one with the uncensored cover- bring on Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny- hopefully April of 05.

Subject: Not to shabby!
I like the fact that almost every time I read a review, it is right on. A legendary show at the least. I would of loved to see this one.
