A rare German detective story.

A comment...

"The detective or police genre was fairly uncommon for the German silent cinema (Teutonic audiences preferred more interesting metaphysical and depressing subjects for their entertainmentâ¦) although there were important exceptions such as Herr Harry Piel who starred in a lot of detective films full of mysterious adventures during the silent (and talking ) era. He became the quintessential Teutonic silent hero and his very popular police films appealed to those German audiences who were fond of Amerikan detective movies."

This movie is part of the collection: Silent Films

Producer: Rolf Randolf
Audio/Visual: Music bed, Black and White, English subtitles

Subject: 16:9 is'nt 4:3
It is a good old movie, but no thanks this time! Wrong aspect ratio makes the fine ladys really fat.

Many thanks for this (been looking for it for a while), and for the others you've been uploading. Please ignore spoilt adolescents like urmas.

Subject: Sehr schön, indeed!
Alle diese unbekannten Film-Schätze aus der Versenkung heraufzuholen, ist eine sehr dankenswerte Anstrengung.
Thanks a lot for unearthing this cineastic rarity from the past.

As regards the allegedly "fat German actors" (cf. the first comment on this film: Without having watched the film yet (it's still being downloaded), I should like to defend at least Mr. Harry Piel, who was never fat. -
In the 1930s, the young folks used to rhyme:
"Harry Piel
sitzt am Nil
wäscht sein (beep)
mit Persil".

Subject: Ach wie schön!
As it seems, Hg80 never learns.
It's indeed very, very marvelous to see all these fat German actors and actresses! Bravo!
