There were mucho many good bands playing in Long Beach around this time. Went to Bogaart's all the time after grueling days at LB State. The Shatners were always entertaining, not sure why they didn't get a real record deal, but I had this tape til someone threw it out the window of my car (long story). Great to find it here, but it doesn't sound as chunky and solid as I remember. Maybe it is the download. And why a drum machine, dudes? This band had a cute-ass drummer who was like fifteen years old and she rocked. Good shit, Shats.

I saw the Shatners, but I don't remeber any of these tunes really. Must have been 1992-3 or so. Bogart's was the greatest place back then. Lots of good bands touring and the locals weren't bad either. Rock on, Shatners.

I remember these guys from last century. Good songs, bad hair. When I was drunk, they were great. When's the reunion show?

Ah yes, the Shats made for some good theatre. Entertaining, insightful and out of shape, they were good fun at Bogart's every other weekend.

I saw these guys back in 1991 in LA and they were funny and they rock!! Their tape is kind of funky, since it has no drummer (drum machine) but the songs are very very good, most of them. Some questionable cover songs, but "Can't Compete With Jesus" is hilarious and "Perfect Girl" is a classic power pop song. I guess they have broken up, but the tape is worth finding.
