Subject: Monster Magic For A Little Kid
I fondly remember seeing the movie at the local movie theatre when I was 8 years old, and being totally thrilled! It leaves a lot to be desired by adults today, but this kid loved it in 1958!
Not a bad little story, but the beast doesn't make his appearance until 53 minutes into the movie. There were too many scenes of the wedding festivities, and these were boringly long. The beast model was pretty convincing, and the stop-motion animation is good, especially the scenes of the beast running full-tilt. They made his tongue much too long, and it's painfully evident when the beast gets angry.
Guy Madison was the rugged, handsome cowboy every kid wanted to be in 1958...me being one.
I'm giving "The Beast Of Hollow Mountain" 5 stars simply because it was so thrilling for me way back then.
It's great to be able to watch the movie again after 51 years!

Subject: Widescreen?
This movie starts out (credits) in the 2:35:1 cinemascope ratio but as soon as the story begins is becomes 1:35:1 full screen pan and scan ratio. Disappointing.

Subject: Easily disuaded dino
First off, Panchito must be the equivilent of the Anglo Timmy cause that kid is always in trouble.
But don't worry, if the dino steps in a puddle he will not cross it. They don't explain why, but dino hates mud between his toes.
If it's not in mud, just yell, "Get away from here." They don't explain why that works either.
Pretty ineffective monster on the whole, but polite. You can't say it's not the most accomodating monster ever, cause it is.
