Marko FürstenbergMarko Fürstenberg - Gesamtlaufzeit [THN047] (December 15, 2003)

Marko Fürstenberg is a well known and long-time Thinner Act, who has been releasing there continously for 2 years. Having released 3 EPs and performed numerous Live shows, his debut Thinner-Long player is well overdue.

"Gesamtlaufzeit was produced between March and September 2003, thanks to his laptop, completly mobile - every song in a different environment where Marko resided this year (between his stay in Canada, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and his residence Thüringen/Germany.) . A diary, converted to music with every location producing new impressions and creating diverse sample ressources. Marko is the kind of person searching for natural sounds, between campfires crackles, and rolling obstacles to give his tracks a certain identifying warmth.

One can listen to the process of Fürstenbergs muscial maturity , that is obvious by the versatility and detailed harmonic moods on this album. The tracks circle around Dubhouse in the broader sense - with rambling pads and endless modulated ambient spheres, tight Groove monsters are created, underlayed with compressed bassdrums whenever appropriate. Every track contains a certain grade of emotion - relating the dedications of the tracknames, that reflect on prevailing local circumstances.

Every track has been scenically arranged and on top of it recorded live and direct. And so we are happy together with Marko to present his album in the very near future. There wouldnt be a better season than Winter for his music .

Was das Album in keinster Weise schmälert.

(Moritz)

Founded 5 years ago, the German structure will have really soon 50 releases out! "Wow" don't you think? Well, there is an explanation: Thinner is not a label like many others since it's only distributing its releases via the internet as MP3 files (192 kbps) - for free!! But don't think the tracks' quality is not as good as what we can find elsewhere on vinyl or CD. As a proof, this LP delivered by Marko Fürstenberg, an artist who previously appeared on about 10 Thinner productions with other pseudos like Dolby & Surphase. It's easy to see that the German producer was strongly influenced by Maurizio, Basic Channel ou Chain Reaction. The 9 tunes of this LP are evolving in a dub techno way, often minimal or hypnotising and sometimes electronica / ambient. There's nothing innovating here but we'll never be fed up with this particular style and especially in this case where both sounds and production are simply perfect. Marko Fürstenberg's tracks are as great as many other specialists of this musical genre and they should be printed on 12"! Before the release date planned on 15/12/2003 on Thinner web site, you can already download tons of available MP3s (like for example the ones by Mateo Murphy, Eloi Brunelle, Dick Richards or also Christian Bloch to name the most famous producers on thinnerism.com) !

Subject: Excellent!
What a great release! Not a dull moment, and so constantly interesting that it's hard to pick a favorite track (though at the moment I'd probably name "Gegenstromung" and "In Der Pappelei" as highlights). It may be laid back, but it's certainly not dull, with constant motion and variation pushing the tracks on. Definitely worth downloading and listening to over and over.

Subject: i agree-
this guy produces top notch stuff! i've enjoyed all of his releases-- this is a sort of driving downtempo, full of crackles and splatters, all of which are panned very nicely... this is DEEP music, ambience for introspection and inspiration!
if you haven't visited the main Thinner site, you should definetely check it out-- they have "moving album covers" (which will hopefully be an industry standard someday)-- each release has its own animated piece, all of which perfectly match the music...

Subject: WOW
This guy is a pro. Why this isn't on a major electro label is just amazing, as it's equal to or better than the best of the commercial stuff. Mezmerizing, beautiful, deep, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for even the most musically jaded. Just sit back and let the music flow over you. Thanks for pointing me to this Snotty, I owe ya one...

Subject: one of thinner's best
this ep captivated me from the moment i first heard it. every track is a fine piece of expertly constructed electronica - a perfect blend of ambient spheres and subtle grooves. the whole album is pretty laid back (in the best thinner fasion) but it has plenty enough complex beats and interesting sample material to keep it from becoming 'boring'
