Subject: Worth the listen
Great Set and great quality, really enjoyed this one.

p.s. Who gives a three star rating because "this band isn't my favorite?"... ridiculous

Subject: Fantastic Show
John's voice is shot by the end, or so he claims--could have fooled me. I like the newer songs in their semi-stripped down (guitar & bass) versions here. The show really heats up on the few songs they add the drums.

john is such a brilliant song writer, i am happy to see the mountain goats have found a home on archive. good show, good sound quality.

Subject: great quality
no denying the sound quality, but this band isn't my favorite.

5 stars for sound quality
3 stars overall.

Notes

Here are the details on the source from the taper:
"As for how I recorded it; I used a Sony Mini Disc recorder (I forget the model number, 510?), a cheap pair of microphones that I got from Radio Shack over 10 years ago that have held up remarkably well, and a battery box that I got from soundprofessionals.com...I end up losing the digital-ness, because I end up transferring the recording to my computer using Spin Doctor. That allows me to adjust the levels a little,
but not too much or it ends up sounding crappy."

The sound is remarkably good-warm and yet very crisp, anything but "crappy." There's some banter that's a little hard to hear at times, but that's rare. The music sounds spot-on.
