Subject: Thanks for a GREAT recording ->
At first I thought a Mountain Goat was an animal, or a goat is a reviewer that doesn't listen to music, but rather likes to listen to their self-aggrandizing words.
Then to my jolly amusement I find out Mountain Goats are a band. And for the cherry on the top, mycarrion has an amazing recording of a live show.
AFTER the first 60 seconds, the recording is beautiful. I don't think it would sound much better unless I had fiber optic cables running from the soundboard to my ears. Maybe I could get a Soundboard cochlear implant.
My only complaint is there should have been "More Guitar in the Monitor" durning the show.
Thanks!

Subject: great recording
I'd only heard a smattering of the goats before this recording but mycarrion has made a fan out of me. Another great recording by what must be one of the best tapers in the area. Winterhunt, did you not listen to more than the first minute (that the taper listed in his notes was bad)? The goats would surely be proud to have the show captured in this recording.

I never consented to having this available in any format here. Hopefully this won't happen in the future. 64Kbps is pure crap and an insult to the complexity of the human ear, not to mention the artist and my efforts to record this show.
Edit: I tried without success to contact the uploader before this went public. I found out that it was to be made public while searching other MG shows here. Not the way I would want things to happen, and I did what I though best to try to fix the error. I'm not yet personally familiar with etree(domain?).

What's the "1" star rating for?
Thanks for removing the lossy files just the same.
Edit, again: I missed the beginning of the show proper because I was talking with a deadhead(true). Funny thing is that at the end of the night I could remember his name, but he had no idea of mine.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
Get the show. The price is right becauase I'm buyin'!

Subject: Not Worth the Lossless
being a Major Goathead, I had very high expectations for this with the 5 Star reviews....sadly it was not to be the case, poorly planned and poorly executed taping absolutely massacres what with a competent taping would have been a real gem of a show.....a real disservice to the boys and their art......really just a shame........perhaps people should have to pass some sort of minimum equivalency test before they can destroy performances by bands people care about.......well at least the guy tried......if it was up in a lossy format, it could only improve upon it.....would give it half a star if I could.......check out some Dead recordings to see how it's done. so everyone's time is not wasted in the future......

In the future, all you have to do is send an email to etreeATarchiveDOTorg to bring stuff like this to our attention.
> What's the "1" star rating for?
At the time it was what you used, so that's what I used. Changed to 3 since I haven't listened to the show.
* First minute's sound affected by my inability to plan ahead. Rumble from mic adjustment ends exactly at one minute. No other major issues with recording. Really entertaining set from a master lyricist.
Venue notes:
A very small setting is the Clipper with a seperate dining room that resembles a train car, in a neighborhood with clubs in spitting range varying from Punk/Metal to Hip-Hop. Pabst Blue Ribbon flows from the tap or you can buy it in a can. The stage is obscured by a makeshift mirrored room which supports an elevated soundboard. Perhaps this comment by Peter on the following nights accomodations at Neumos in Seattle explains it best: "I cannot emphasize enough how great it is to have a dressing room that is something more than a closet with four hundred sets of cocks and balls scrawled on the walls." Good times.
Show notes:
John played the set barefoot and very willing to improvise. This is the last night bassist Peter plays his "ten-year-old red Mexico-built Fender Jazz with a small gash in the bottom, a big Swedish vehicle ID sticker on the back, and a Barack Obama for U.S. Senate 2004 campaign sticker on the front". Too bad. It sounded sweet. The "low-e" breaking turns out to be a score for fans of both the Goats and Billie. A real gem of a night. The Double and Sarah Dougher opened.
