TurmoilThe Black Suns [tmth-00B]

It's been a while since we got anything from Tom and Holly of Turmoil, who have been busy running the well-liked Amduscias netlabel. They recently released Jon 7's album "The Dark Moon", so in return we released this album, "The Black Suns".

Turmoil albums are usually pretty good anyway, and each album they release further defines their sound. In our minds, it's very much like what new-age music could be if it were not so preoccupied with lightness. "Suns in Alchemy" uses water sounds and distant percussion that echoes like an underground ocean, it's vast and scenic and grey. Listen to this one in the pitch dark.

Subject: Hardly new age!
Despite the 'new age' rumour, this about as far as you can get from josticks, flared trousers and hippies. More like the eternal space where hippies fear to go. It's on my list of endless loops to play through the night. Recommended if you like that sort of thing. And recommended if you don't.
