Justin RobertElementals [tmth008]

try new player!embedding and help

Recently, we got an email from Justin Robert, head of the Lunar Flower netlabel, who had discovered Jon7.net Microlabel from another website. He offered his latest recording to jon7.net, but we directed him here instead.

"Elementals" is an intriguing recording, full of slowly mutating loops and sounds. In the 'notes' section below, you will find the information about how "Elementals" was recorded. Give a listen and let the sounds speak for themselves, while we await the shipment of new music-related adjectives Roget has promised to send.

More music from Justin can be found at:

Lunar Flower netlabel is due to appear on the Archive any day, be sure to give it some love.

Comments are appreciated.

Notes

Live recording by Justin Robert using a casiotone MT-60, a microphone (for human voice), xenyx 502 mixer, and puredata with a patch called the jLooper for real-time audio processing that was written by the author.

The concept behind the jLooper is the "windshield wiper effect" with rhythms overlapping, crossing, meshing, layering, cascading and colliding. There is also some gritty pitch / ring modulation integrated into the processing. The patch can be downloaded below (jlooper.zip).

This 58:14 minute long piece was improvised in real-time with no prerecorded loops or sounds.

---------This album is dedicated to Elephas the Goldfish who passed away early morning on 2.8.08
I'll miss you my little friend.-----------
