Julien SkrobekPlage Concrete [tmth02F]

Julien Skrobek's sounds were referred to Timetheory by a netlabel friend, and we were at once pleased and intrigued by what we received. The music of "Plage Concrete" marks our first venture into this style, and it's a welcome addition. Acoustic guitar, field recordings, AM and shortwave radio and other elements come together to create a sparse but ever-changing soundscape that grabs only as much attention as needed, then slips into the background.

Like much music in the 'concrete' field, a lot can be gained by enjoying to pronounced presence of the sounds in the room around you as listen, the additon of the sounds of the land or street, wherever you may be. Peaceful and patient are key characteristics of this music, and you will be able feel yourself on the 'concrete beach' quite easily.
