Karl from Toupé:
Band line up at the time was Grant Sharkey - 6 string bass and vocals...Karl Evans - 4 string bass and Aaron Head-drums.....but we have recently had a new drummer replace him .. he goes under the name Afro Jay...
Equipment was very simple...I bought along a load of mics and stuff hoping
to get a proper ambient/sound desk mix but in the end couldn't find a safe
place to leave any of it so all it ended up being was a mono feed direct
from the sound desk (never brilliant) into a mini disc recorder.
Then got it home, copied the mono track into two stereo tracks and then
shifted the right hand track along about 7 ms or something like that to
create a fake stereo effect and put a tiny bit of reverb on the whole thing
to try and make it sound a little less dry and sound board like. Think there
might of been a tiny bit of bass bossting as well, it being Toupé an' all.
Used a studio program called logic platinum to do all this.

Subject: Toupé - The Nexus Show
Singing might be the wrong word (I had a sore throat - tonsils like golf carts) - but no excuses here. What you hear is what you get.
I thought I'd explain a little about the venue and the show....
The Nexus is Southampton's premier Rock/Alternative club - capacity approx 450 people. The show we put on there was SKINDRED, with support from TOUPÉ and SOLITUDE.
It was a great night. We know Skindred quite well and it was fantastic to finally share the stage with them.
During our show - I was not expecting Karl and Aaron to burst into BEAT IT at the beginning. And during Kangarillapig I started taking the mick out of one of Skindreds songs - the next thing I know Benji Webbe (ex-DubWar and singer for Skindred) is grabbing the mic showing me how it's done - great for the crowd - who were itiching to see Skindred and Benji again. Great for me.
This is the second time I've tried ot write a review - in the first one I said I wouldn't give a star rating but then it failed and I lost the copy - so my star rating is a Five for fun.
Hope you enjoy it! :)
