Subject: (more than worthwhile) a MUST HEAR, for a true "Pumpkin" fan
While there is no "Rhinoceros, Zero, Mayonaise or even Tarantula", this is an amazing set. IMHO, this recording (to date) is the equivalent of the "Led Zeppelin, Gonzaga tape".
Before the "Zep" fans (I am one) "flame" me into oblivion let me say " the reference to Zep/Gonzaga" is about this being the oldest known "live recording".
"Now I have NO DOUBT about the originality of this recording", but I have questions.
Who the H*ll knew that track 8 was named "6234"? Who knew this was D'Arcy's 1st live gig?
And the "source" & "lineage" state "SBD = soundboard" ... now who in 1988 was making "soundboard" recordings of a band (w/o a drummer) called "the Smashing Pumpkins"?
Do we have a mystery poster?
Just asking.
Anyway, please continue. Great stuff!
Flame away, I can take it.
*accept nothing, question everything*

Subject: a worthwhile listen
The sound quality is a bit on the low side and you can hear some excessive audience noise. However, I'd still give this 5 stars because it is such an historic show and provides a valuable glimpse into the early days of the pumpkins.
This is the first show with D'Arcy, when they didn't even have Chamberlain and were still using a drum machine. This show contains a number of rarities that did not make it on any of their albums. Truly a gem, despite the fact that the recording quality leaves something to be desired.

Sound is amazing. Thank you!
Notes
First show with D'arcy. Jimmy Chamberlin has not joined the group yet.
