Subject: JESUS CHOKEHOLD

Hey, I'm just curious? What's the first thing Jesus will do when he comes back? Is he still gonna wear that robe and the flip-flops? Cuz otherwise, how will we recognize him? There are thousands of dudes in mental hospitals who think they're the Big J. What if the real Jesus already came back and is undergoing electro-convulsion therapy as I type this? I'd like to see Jesus come back and put George Bush in a chokehold and explain His position on killing 130,000 Iraqi civillians.

Oh, I just thought of this, too...since everyone travels around in planes and cars and shit, will the Jezzer still walk everywhere, or will he just tellaport? Will he start trying to convince christians in America that they totally ignored his message or will he go back in time and try to stop the crusades or the Spanish inquasition or the genocide of the native tribes of North America? That'd be nice but he'd probably just let himself get nailed to a telliphone pole , just like last time.

When did I suggest it was ok to give pot to kids-- you know they will get it on their own if they are of that mind.. you did I did, its all around everywhere.. No I didnÂt get any information from Time or news week, they are saying the same thing? Huh go figure, perhaps people should be looking into those other drugs - METH BOOZE and Heroine -- and seriously compare which is the greater threat to society on a hole- not just point fingers at the hippies in the park smoking dope saying there is the evil- the true evil is those like yourself who look only to pick on the most convenient target, pot smokers are so laid back certainly they cant defend themselves in a conversation such as this -- whatever man get off your high horse and address what the real heath threats are -- or have I offended you in some way-- is it the glass of booze sitting there on your coffee table-- or were you in the middle of lining out that last bit of your meth? Subject: The problem with pot

Sounds like you been reading too much of the January issue of Time magazine. Not being a THC rhodes scholar like yourself, I did a little research of my own. I checked out a couple websites (for the easiest one, just go to WEBMD and type in marijuana in the search prompt), and found the results mixed. Some scientists say Marijuana damages fetuses of pregnant women, can increase the risk of heart attack up to 5 times, decreases male fertility, decreases the flow of blood to the brain up to one month (perhaps causing impermanent memory loss and an inability to concentrate as well), may cause depression and schizophrenia, and heavy pot use may decrease IQ.

Of course, the inconclusive words like may and can are also used heavily in stating that it might have positive effects destroying malignant glioma, a lethal form of brain cancer...at least in rats. It may help control spascity, and it may help with alzheimers, and it doesn't seem to cause heart or lung cancer (although that issue seems to flip flop a bit). Oh, they don't think it's a gateway drug either.

Wow, sounds like weed is the answer that we have been looking for. Here's a great idea, lets start smoking pot with our impressionable youth, get people that drive our kids buses and our soldiers in Iraq to puff on the lye, how about getting our government officials to take bong hits to decrease their IQ and conentrative abilities and head into multilateral talks with Iran and North Korea? Anyone else in, yeah, me neither.

I'm not a THC hater. In fact I used to enjoy it quite a bit, but I grew out of it. I don't really like it though when people make an argument that's one sided...without really exploring the facts in full. Well, how about this. You smoke pot for the next 20-30 years so you don't get cancor sores, but remember that when you are trying to get your loved one pregnant...for some reason you are shooting blanks. And that if you do get her preganant cross your fingers for the fetus, because who knows what it does. Also good luck holding that 3-closing shift at Chevron with your heavy depression. During that time, I'll stick to running and getting psuedo cannibinoids in endorphins, and I'll take my chances with cancor sores.

P.S. you are right though, opiates, alcohol and nicotine are much worse, but adding another wrong doesn't make it right.

Subject: Get your facts straight

Pot does not destroy brain cells.
The THC molecule attaches to a receptor in our neurological system. That receptor is in everyones body- there is only one thing that fits that receptor Tetrahydrocannabinol. Now there has been so many people enjoying this herb for so long that receptor has evolved into our body. If not evolution, then the big guy upstairs put it there for our enjoyment. When the THC molecule attaches to this receptor then the substance~Anandamide is released into the blood stream, which brings on a relaxed feeling, and a feeling of wellness, much the same as the endorphine rush experianced in "runners high".. The molecule Anandamide has been shown to stop the spread of the cancer causing virus Herpies Simplex, which for your information, we all carry around with us, but doesnt normaly appear until we get older... you have had cancor sores right ? Well thats that nasty herpies simplex raising its ugly little head seeing if our immune system is run down enough for it to thrive in yet...
Lets look at a substance that DOES kill brain cells BY THE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS.... ALCOHOL.
This socially accepted and promoted POISON is the true health threat. How many people die each year from consuming alcohol, how many die from smoking pot?
How many traffic fatalities are caused by someone who is just smoking pot....
Ok now how many fatalities are caused by drinking and driving?
You should take a better look at those responce times as well, I think you have swallowed someone elses tripe whole without even doing any research on your own...
Lets work on stopping the true Drug problems out there METH, Booze, and heroine.... in that order..

Subject: Ouch! Hey Now!

I'm sensing a lot of hostility here.. Who's to say what the hell is going on? Obviously we have been hurting our precious spaceship the earth for much much too long.. but there is always hope! It's just that a few greedy bastards took control of and misuse all our resources for profit!! I just don't understand... They're gonna make MUCH MORE $$ in the long run by saving the planet! The United States Constitution, Declaration of Independence and THE FIRST AMERICAN FLAG ARE ALL MADE OF MARIJUANA!!! It can be made into a clean burning fuel for our cars! Obviously, our founding fathers were all marijuana advocates! W T F happened?? How is it that politics ($$$) have managed to override saving the planet?? I mean, how could you just ignore the plant that can save our planet?? There is, on average, 4 times as much fiber in 1 acre of marijuana than 1 acre of trees... it grows much faster, and it puts nitrates into the soil. ( FUCK COTTON ) One marijuana seed is equivelant to 500 sun flower seeds, have super-proteins that are hard to find and taste better than flax seeds. AND smokin' it gets you high!! It is NOT as bad for you as tobacco or alcohol. jeez. I'm sorry, I can get angry and negative. Don't be Anti-Nuclear, be Pro-Solar etc.etc.. There are plenty of resources for everyone to share, we just need to do more with less.

Subject: I wonder

I wonder if all those small fishing villages will become high rise luxury hotels, owned by huge corporations that managed to connive their way into 'ownership' of all that valuable ocean-front property.

I wonder why so much of the humanitarian aid is being used to look for missing western tourists.

I wonder how much profit has already been made off of this disaster.

This was not the largest earthquake ever. Looking at the list, the number of very large earthquakes around 1950-60 would lead us to believe that the world was ending *then*. Obviously, it didn't.

As population levels and density increase, we shall expect more people to be killed by each natural disaster. This trend will only reverse if the population level and density were to reduce. Considering the total number of people on earth now, and the estimated "carrying capacity", we shall not have long to wait. One way or another, the population growth will slow and eventually stop.

Subject: Signs of the times

Please don't judge the victims of this disaster. They are not to blame. If we do, then we must blame the victims of 911, Florida Hurricanes, California fires & mudslides, Englands "unpresidented" floods, etc. This is NOT an isolated insident. I believe we are ALL getting a WAKE UP call. I truly sense that Jesus Christ is about to return to this earth. The 3300 year old bible has predicted these events exactly as we are reading them in the headlines. And it's not over yet. I sense too, that we will see 2005 bring more OBVIOUS signs that the end of the age as we know it is upon us. Scientists say that the Asian earthquake was so strong that it "moved the earth's axis by an inch! Have you ever heard of such a thing? Me either! All signs are not neccesarily destructive, but they are OBVIOUS to those who watch for them. Instead of judging those in the disaster, lets look into our OWN lives & see if there is a message here for ALL of us. If I am right, are you ready? Subject: great footage

The footage is excellent, really gives a feel for what it was like at that particular time and place. The real power is diminished because we miss the initial wave, and because this is inside a hotel enclave that acts as a breakwater. Still, it's pretty scary when they start wondering if people are alive or dead.

Even better than the film, though, are the reviews here. Must we struggle to place everything in a "larger context", whether religious, atheist, cosmic, paranoid, or whatever?

And by the way, the Bible is not 6000 years old. The very earliest portions go back about 3300 years, and it was written over about 1500 years. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Subject: Earth being consumed by the sun

White Dwarfs are the remnants of stars that were massive enough to stay alive using nuclear fusion in their cores, but not massive enough to blow apart in a Type IIa supernova. When stars like our own sun die they will become white dwarfs. As a star like our sun is running out of fuel in its core it begins to bloat into a red giant. When this happens to our sun (don't worry it won't happen for another 5 Billion years) the inner planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars will all be consumed by the sun's expanding surface. Then after a few million years the outer layers of the red giant will begin to puff off and form a planetary nebula. Leaving behind only the dead core of the star made of mostly carbon and oxygen. This is the White Dwarf.
A typical white dwarf is smaller than Earth, about the size of the United States. It is also very dense and hot. The star keeps itself from collapsing under gravity by quantum mechanical electron pressures rather than the thermodynamic pressures that keep most stars from collapse. A spoonful of white dwarf material on Earth would weigh as much as a car. Strange, isn't it?

ps. I doubt human beings will still exist in 5 billion years - our race with be either evolved or extinct.

The Earth is a dynamic environment - ever changing, and shifting. The earthquake in the Indian Ocean, and resulting tsunami, was a Natural Disaster, not an act of God. People have always found themselves victimized by random events brought on by harsh weather, earthly shifts, and volcanic eruptions, all throughout history. And for now at least, as long as we inhabit areas where such an event could occur, which is pretty much anywhere on the planet at any given time, we can expect them to continue.

No, a true act of God would have been for 150,000 men, women, and children to have suddenly dropped dead at the same time... for no apparent reason; or for me to drop dead before finishing this sentence - for what some may consider blasphemy.

The truth is, while we are in the physical, most of us are limited in what we can understand about why bad things happen to good people, especially to children. You can't say that all those precious children who lost their lives in the tsunami, or that will die from disease related to it, were evil; or criminal, or were being punished for the misdeeds of their parents. You could assume that they were collectively paying some Karmic debt, but the only thing you can say for sure is that; regrettably, they were in the path of a deadly tsunami.

We are spiritual beings having physical experiences for the purpose of the evolution of consciousness. And the beauty of it is; it does not matter that some of you will not grasp this concept right away, or even in this life. We are a planetary race, and as we grow, we will become more aware of our intrinsic connectedness to one another, and all things. As the vibratory rate of human consciousness reaches a critical mass, a shift will occur. It is likely at this time, most of us will have the ability to sense when danger is approaching, and these types of catastrophic events will no longer cause such great human loss.

Until that time arrives, instead of condemning those who have suffered from an Act of Nature, try to understand how it is that you were unable to sense it somewhere in your own being, prior to it's occurrence.

A few points here. First, yes the Brits were very calm, and provided strong color commentary for the video. Why are some surprised at this? Not everyone panics like a retarded mongoloid during a natural catastrophe. In fact, choosing to give into your Neandertal instincts which leads to panic is the least wise thing to do.

To the reviewer who stated this worry about the resort Hotel collapsing: If you were on that Balcony, observing the water rushing in, and the thought of "Perhaps the entire building will collapse from this" entered your mind, what would you do about it? Go to the first floor and enter the water? Of course not. There is nothing that can be done in this situation except stay put.

To the viewer who said may God keep those people in the water safe. I say to you, it was God who brought his divine power to bear upon the sinners of these lands! Repent now for your sins and crimes, and be saved - else suffer the fate.

Subject: Boy--those Brits keep it together!

What I found eerie was how CALM these people were. As if none of this was effecting them! I'd be freaking worrying that the building was going to wash away from underneath me, and seeing all those relatively helpless people below me. I mean the one guy is right--there's nothing you could do, but jeez--show some emotion! This video does a good job at showing how this tsunami did so much damage with out being a "tidal wave." The surge and subsequent current--you'd have to be one Hell of a swimmer, or very determined to live to survive something like that. I'm not sure I could have--especially when you take into account being washed into things--like all that smashing glass and metal beach furniture. The "lifeboat" comment at the end was a nice ironic way to end it.
