Thanks this morning to ChrisM, my MP3Angel, for supplying the news and commentary audio files.Due to time constraints, just a quick synopsis of the news this morning... Richard Holbrooke, our Foreign Policy "point man" on Pakistan and Afghanistan is under the scalpel for heart surgery leaving him out of this week's final policy review on Afghanistan.
North Korea is on edge, so what do the South Koreans do? Have military exercise with artillery shelling at thirty seven bases around the country. Former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, who's had dealings with the North Korean government before is attempting to defuse the situation as China stands by with a momentarily hands-off attitude. The US still has about 27,000 US troops in South Korea.
At noon Pacific time, the tax bill is scheduled to go to vote in the Senate. Bernie Sanders of Vermont spoke for seven hours last week from the floor explaining how badly everyone but the rich would get screwed by the tax 'deal'.
Six American soldiers were killed and a couple more were wounded in Kandahar Afghanistan by a car bomb at the gate of one of our bases.
