The Church in Turkey had challenging issues. One of these was obtaining accurate versions.

(those not familiar with the issues can start with the works of John William Burgon on the Text of the New Testament).

Ebenezer's work was excellent, but his work was criticized by the leaders of the BFBS, a society that was actually unitarian (do some research).

Yet his books, which remain available, are excellent in their exegetical skills and their historic knowledge.
