Holographs, signed
Title devised by cataloger
The second item, written on a piece of paper torn in half, may or may not be an actual letter from James B. Gray. On verso of this letter, the partially visible name of the recipient appears to be William Lloyd Garrison
In the first item, a group of “subscribers” pledges to raise 200 dollars, half of which is to be given to “the free paper of Latimer,” and the other half to be spend on freeing George Latimer. The second item is a “supposed auction notice” with the name of James B. Gray at the bottom. It states that a public auction of George Latimer will be held in Faneuil Hall on Tuesday 22 [November 1842]
