The Zen PotatoTHE ZEN POTATO - Left In The Lurch [tzpdc 27] ()

Twisted and mangled vocal samples and strange otherworldly themes predominate here. Experimental drone and strange textures are also present at times. The potato outdoes himself yet again with this strange statement.

Subject: Disconnected pieces - not a single work
This one begins with a jarring vocal sample that quickly dissolves into a drone. (Be careful not to put this into a late night mix.) It evolves into swirling and swooping drones over a second layer of metallic drone/buzz. Around 18:30, the music changes suddenly with another vocal sample that dissolves into a new drone. At 24:30 an abrupt silence and a new piece begins. This one is a quiet drone. At ~ 32 minutes, a pause and then track 4 starts yet another quiet drone. The work really seems to be at least 4 separate pieces. None of them are as memorable as ZP's work on Constant 3. Worth downloading if you are an afficiando of dark ambient and drones, but this will probably be an occasional play and never in constant rotation.

Subject: Dark again
Some more dark stuff from Zen Potato. Mangled voice samples create an eerie atmosphere, while deep dark drones soothe the mind a little again. Nice combination, though I would've liked this in an expanded version. Acutally it stops just at the point it's starting to get trancy. Shame. Still, a nice release, but he's had better.
