Thanks fivefanband for pointing that out about YYZ not having a primus tease in it. I copied the setlist directly from the UM site a few days after, and apparently they have removed it off the setlist now. Maybe the uploader can edit this out of the show post.

The second set has some unbelievable moments, mario bros. teases, a great reggae cover and The Greatest 40's Theme Of All Time, during which Jake becomes possessed and nearly burns his fingers off. You have to hear it if you like this band or the guitar or music in any form whatsoever. Did I say incendiary?

The "I Keep Forgetting" lyrics in In the Kitchen are preceeded by a serious Fletch Theme jam from about 3:30 to 6:50.

In spite of what some of the other reviewers seemed to indicate, i found the first set to be excellent. I am not the biggest UM-knowledgeable reviewer, but I definitely think this show demonstates their chops and excellent high energy nature.

This was a great show, especially the YYZ encore. My only complaint is that YYZ is labeled with a John the Fisherman (Primus) tease, which it doesn't contain. John the Fisherman contains a YYZ tease though...

I was lucky enough to be at Wakarusa for this show. This was a very frustrating show. The anticipation was killing all of us. Finally after about an hour of soundchecking the band takes the stage. I was expecting an "audio-ass whoopin" from the start but was disappointed. Umphs noodled around for about an hour. They would build up a little jam and just when you thought they were gonna explode with something great....they would back off and noodle around some more. FRUSTRATING! After listening for about an hour me and homies left for something else.
Mistake....
We went back to the campsite to chill and get some sleep (pass out)....I remember waking up listening to the show from the tent. I remember thinking HOLY CRAP they are killing it! The second set of this show is nothing short of phenominal! If you listen to this show my advice would be to pretty much skip the first halve and jump right in to the end of the show.
4 stars only because of the "noodleling" to start the show. It sounds great and has a KILLER ending!

Umphrey's brought a great opening vibe to Wakarusa. Solid jams throughout, and Atmosfarag to get things going truly made for a memorable evening

Anyone else think that Jazz Oddyssey should be renamed P-Funk jam? they are pretty much jamming over a P-Funk bassline that the name of which escapes me. "more of that funky stuff," maybe?
anyways, i give this 4 out of 5 because the first set was a yawn with some decent moments, but the second set was "ass-deep" in the funk. great way to start a great festival
