Subject: Yeah Baby
Let me start by saying I wore a tie and a blue afro to this show, and although I don't usually dress up, this one was well beyond worth it! Opening with a nailbiting "All in Time" and an earbiting encore(ala Floyd) was bombastic to say the least. Unfortunately, the taper seems as if he's beatboxing the entire show, I'm sure there will be a soundboard copy available soon enough--after all, it IS the Aragon. On the flipside, all I can say is "set list, atmosphere, chicago, new year's eve, and Umphuckin' Phrey's Mcgee." Check ya'll at the RAVE in Milwaukee Town. Four stars for sound. 9,325 stars for actual show. Damn.

...i am impressed by the recording but maybe it is just my rockin' speakers along with burning a cd that makes me twitch when i hear this show. maybe i'm just a rookie when it comes to expanding flac; whatever. anything can always be beter right? anyway, i'm down with um for life and look forward to hitting it live! peace...

Subject: THE VERY BEST
I had always thought the best Umphrey's shows i had seen were the barn shows at Summer Camp in Chillicothe, however this new years show by far takes the cake. The recording isnt the greatest but I was there and it ROCKED! Both nights were amazing and Umphrey's was vocal about being happy to share New Years with the crowd. Between the sold out venue and the enormous balloons and confetti it was very memorable. I look forward to next year and make sure you download this show!

UM delivered a 3 set masterpiece that showcased exactly why they were playing in front of 4500 fans for NYE 2005. No doubt about it. This is the future.

They put on a great show with guests, horns, new covers, and slamming versions of original tunes.

The sound quality leaves a little to be desired; but this recording is a blessing compared to some of the other tapes I've heard in come out of the Aragon.

Don't forget to grab 12/30/05 as well!!!!

Subject: yeah right
the sound in the aragon that night was amazing, especially compared to any other show ive seen there

Subject: explanations...
yes, i agree the sound for the recording is sub par, but you have to take into consideration the venue and where the tapers were set up if you werent at the show or have never attended a show at the aragon...it is notoriously one of the worst rooms in the country acoustically to play in and i commend kevin browning for making the room sound as good as it could sound. also the tapers were set up about as far back from the stage as was feasibly possible and in general the closer you are to the stacks the better it will turn out. so with both of those factors ill give my own source a 3 star only because it is listenable but not great. there were 3 other rigs recording this night but the results will be similar so if you want a great copy of this buy the disclogic downloads when they become available.

as for banter tracks, ive always put them in whenever a band member makes a quip and there is 30 seconds or more between songs. having that extra crowd noise etc. on the end of a previous track seems pointless to me especially when people want a copy of only a particular song. but if it does bother you feel free to load all the tracks into an audio editing program and rejoin them and then retrack them to your liking, but if you are going to circulate that version please note your extra work involved, thanks!

Sounds like a hell of a time, but sound makes it not 5 stars.

Subject: Great Show-ok sound
This sounds like an amazing show but the quality of the sound is not impressive. The set list rocks, the boys are on top of their game..just wish you could hear it without the distortion.
I give the show 5 stars & the sound 3 stars

Subject: Tripod Psycheuphoria
I swear Umphrey's gets better everytime I see them.
Jake and the boys were in excellent form at this show and the Aragon was a great venue besides being hot as balls.
The crowd was just having a huge party including the band.
The Tripod gives thanks to our special ladies.
The jams with keller were excellent...the event was glorious, I mean, they got that woman just to do Pink Floyd's Breathe into Great Gig in the Sky.
Fantastic! Even Huey Lewis showd up in one form or another. I wished they kept playing past 2am.

If you don't like Umphrey's or this show then I think there might be something wrong with you.

Note: This is only an opinion and not a diagnosis.

Don't bring down the rating because of the banter tracks. It's called the skip button...douche!
This is a totally kick ass set, and horns and Keller make it better, but this sound quality sucks; it gets more quiet as the show goes on and there's an annoying tapping noise during Miss Tinkles, sort of like whoever was recording was playing the drums on the mic. It's a shame such a kick ass show has to be slaughtered by a bad recording... if anyone out there has a better one please put it up!

Thanks for the quick turn around.

What's with all the 'banter' tracks?
13 seems like too many.
Most aren't even a minute long.

Otherwise sounds great

Subject: umph
Definetely an amazing night being new years and being able to dance all night long with good friends...but not the best umph ever, but still a great show gotta respect the P-funk and dub side...(wish mirro would've jammed with um)...but im not 21 and i couldn't see the mirro and friends the night before...but definetely a great new years...be in iowa city for umph...see u all there...

Subject: Just plain sick...
This is one of the best shows ever, if not the best. UM keeps impressing me. New Years in Chicago at the Aragon is just silly. Thats all I can say. Silly. Can't wait to see what the new year holds for UM.. See you all on the road.
