The actual name of the band is "Ultraviolet Hippopotamus” Look out... these guys are unstoppable. If you have a chair at one of their shows, it's sure to get kicked around the venue.

The sound is great for this one. The power was a major issue with the sound there, but It's a mic recording, so most of the,"crackle at the show", is not audible... almost sounds like a board matrix. My good friend Jason recorded this one, on his minidisk, and all of his mic recordings, I've heard, sound amazing... it sounds awesome, without the board feed/other mic mix.

This was a great little one-day festival, with a sweet line-up. I've seen Ultraviolet Hippopotamus & T-Lo Effect a lot, and Sprout, a few times, and these guys never cease to amaze me.Rusty Thimbles, Mystic Dub, Paucity, and Lighthouse Commission, were really good too.

For $8 in advance, it's the most solid decision all summer for me.

Hope to see everybody there again in 2008 +1500 people!!!

Hey, I was the sound guy at this show.

I think this is probably a mix of the audience mics and the sound board mix. I ran a line out from the board for the sound guy from Sprout. He ran it into a mixer and combined it with some mics. I think he shared this mix with the guy with the minidisc recorder.

I do have a complete sound board recording from this show. I'll try to get it posted here in case anyone is interested.

I did mix sound in full quad with a set of rear mains behind the audience. The sound board recording has only the front channels. I haven't listened to it completely yet but it may be light on the effects and lead instruments which I like to mix into the rear surrounds.

Yes the guitarist from Sprout joined UV Hippo for a couple songs. Towards the end of the night, members of UV Hippo were joined by members of T-Lo Effect for a jam session.

Other bands performing that day include Rusty Thimbles, Mystic Dub, Paucity, Sprout, Lighthouse Commission, and T-Lo Effect. The music was fantastic all day long!

Peace,

John Wenger

Notes

Notes-

The Hippo played as a 5 piece instead of the normail Six Piece...The guitar player from sprout sets in on some of this show! This recording is only partial... A few tracks missing at the end due to taper running out of tapes! This is the only source to my knowledge that exists and due to the lack of Hippo Material on LMA i felt it should be posted. I will find out the Setlist and the rest of the source asap! Enjoy!

UV HIPPO IS:

Brian Samuels - bass guitar, mandolin, vocals
Nate Karnes(Karnage!) - keyboard, banjo, vocals
Casey Jones - Percussion, bells and whistles, vocals
Joe Phillion - drums, good looks!
Sam Guidry - guitar, bass guitar, vocals
