Rain is a series of conceptual CDs produced under the auspices of Webbed Hand Records. Each "Rain" is a CD-length ambient recording ideal for listening to while relaxing, working, or socializing.

This particular album is a 74-minute ambient lullabye, rich in mysterious sounds and dimly familiar allusions.

It is recommended that you play this at low volume, as background when you go to sleep. Shifting repetition of motifs, ensures that your brain will quickly be lulled by the strange yet familiar sounds which inhabit this dreamscape.

Saluki Regicide - Rain I

Damn. C.P. McDill is scary. He continually
creates the sounds that provide structure for
the Webbed Hands label, and it really is just
plain ol scary how much creepy goodness
he has produced.

Of the Rain series releases which I have
heard, Saluki Regicides Rain I definitely
feels like a success to my ears, especially
while listened to in the immersion of
ones headphones.

Rain I is many things. For me it was as if
I were revisiting the carnival grounds of my
childhood, which promised introductions to
arabesque worlds, encounters with gypsies,
and glimpses into the wounded nurseries of
the freak show. Rain I is a soundtrack which warbles along the more solitary and darker marshes of the mind, where elusive and
strange birds fly overhead and the creatures
of the lagoon remain just out of sight, their webbed appendages slowly stirring in the
pools of our collective memory, recalling us
to times and places both distant and near.

Saluki Regicide here offers us an extended
piece which pleasantly and enticingly wraps
the listener up in a blanket of nostalgic soundtracks. Though it is generally recommended that this be listened to as low playing background music, I find that Rain I playfully
and insistently engages my imagination on a
more active level, utilizing my intrigue for sights unseen as a canvas for its aural
poetry. Of course, its ultimately left to
our own ears to decide.

Though not all of Mr. McDills efforts under
the guise of Saluki have hooked me (not yet anyway!), I remain staunchly impressed
overall, and convinced of his talent and
vision no question.

This is a good description. It's exactly what this music is. Brief fleeting moments and sounds drift into and out of consciousness here, amid a nice subtle drone. Don't expect it to really go anywhere, that's not the point. It just sort of IS!
