Its hard to believe that Kimock didn't self combust at the peak of this Tangled Hangers solo!

I am so happy to see this show up on the archive. For all these years I've been listening to the other stage source where the vocals are too loud (and the matinee set is missing) so I can't wait to sink my teeth into this one.
This was one of the best shows I've ever seen by any band. The energy was so vital on this night, it set the tone for arguably the finest three night run of Zero's career.
Everything is amazing throughout but the highlights are the "Pits" where Steve completely isolates himself and dances all over our synapses. The "Anorexia" is a total rager.
"Tangled Hangers" is reason enough to get this show. If you don't get the Kimock magic after hearing this version there's no point going on. He is so in the zone it's not even funny. This is one of the most immaculately constructed guitar solos of all time (IMO) and the eventual peak is truly the peak of all peaks.
The rest of the second set is a carnival ride of bliss, concluding with a sacred reading of "Golden Road" ( a good portion of which they performed in the dark).
In typical Fayetteville fashion the crowd would not let them leave the stage. Even though Vega was half asleep, they mercilessly drilled us with three of the best encores a Zero fan could want.
Do not miss 3/20 as well as the following two nights. Case in point of why Zero at their best had few peers.

This show rocks the light fantastic! Steve's playing IS crazy good (not to mention EVERYONE sounds fantastic)---esp. the slide at the end of Lovelight (AWESOME--WHAT guitar was he playing i wonder?? some super gnarly, electric blues there. whatever it is, I'd sure like to hear that again--could it be the black mustang? aaaahh. and Judge sounds great...what improvisation), Tangled (one of the most, if not most amazing versions i've ever heard), Anorexia (just over the top about 8 min. in), Lovelight, I could go on & on. Domino is fun, and Judge & Steve (such slide!!!!), esp. just nail Trashy Side---phenOMenal.
I will NEVER get over that I missed all of live Zero, but thanks to P.C., Dr. Bob, Steve Fink, Ron Keyser, and so many fine, fine other tapers, my mind can still be melted even NOW, 7 years later!!@! Anyhow, this sounds very much like one of the MANY very memorable, formidable, graced Chester's runs--again, thank u Harold & Ira for making F-ville the warm music mecca it is---WOW. d/l this show NOW. :)

Subject: Hooked
This one did it. I am totally hooked on Zero and any incarnation of Kimock. This show is great! The sound is awesome and the band is definetly on.

From the begining right through this is great, good wild stuff! Trashy side, Pits of Thunder, Running on Faith, Lovelight and Golden road...whatever this is definetly worth every moment.

Unbelievable I am the first to review this incredible run at Chester's from March 1998. This was the first Zero/Kimock show I ever heard. My introduction to Steve was a 5th generation audience tape I got from a buddy of mine who was at this show. He came back to school in Norman, OK the next week a changed man. He told me I missed the best weekend of music I will ever see and hear. Well, I've been a Kimock fanatic ever since then, following Steve's whereabouts and doings for 7 years now.

Anyway, this show and the next two nights will always be super special for me. Not to mention the setlists and the playing are just amazing. Steve's playing is just blistering hot all three nights. If you love Steve Kimock's music and have never heard Zero, or have and like Zero, I suggest you get this and the next two nights.

I can not thank you enough Charlie and Pat. You guys ARE the shit.
