translation of Vedantic works. He came to Rarmlas one day
and said:
"S-wamiji, Vedanta declares everything is Brahman.
Then, when I am Brahman Himself, where is the necessity
for sadhana ou which you lay so much stress?"
"True, Ram/' replied Ramdas, "everything is Brahman,
tai this has to be realised; merely saying that yon are
Brahman cannot make you realise the trtath. Ton ought to
experience that state* rising above all sense of duality by
freeing yonr mind from illusion. Tour T, should BO longer
be the local, narrow individual T but the universal, eternal
and absolute SI\ To realise this ineffable, perfect state,
sadhana is necessary. Mind and its desires have to be
conquered by concentration and purification.'*
