STERN FRAMING 463 The Transom Frame is the aftermost frame in the ship, and the "transom floor," which is at least 1J times the depth of the midship floor, or 6 times the thickness of the stern frame, is connected to the stern post by means of an angle bar on each side of it. The shorter pieces of frame which support the overhanging counter of an elliptical stern are called "cant frames," they radiate from the transom and are bracketed to the transom floor.
