The Buckingham Canal links Madras to Bezawada, the busy junc-
tion town on the Krishna River. Freight boats bring from the
many towns and villages alon^ the ca,na] country cargo to Madras.
To-day, the Buckm^h'izn Omil is an im])orfcant waterway for
freight bcmt traffic.
