The Book of the REVELATION
CHAPTER
10
10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from
heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was
as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: 2 And
he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea,
and his left foot on the earth, 3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion
roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. 4 And
when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I
heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven
thunders uttered, and write them not.
5 And the angel which I saw stand
upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, 6 And
sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things
that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea,
and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: 7 But
in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound,
the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the
prophets. 8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake
unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand
of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. 9 And
I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said
unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it
shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
10 And I took the little book out
of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and
as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11 And he said unto me, Thou must
prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
1. The Mighty Angel & The Little
Book
Please Note: The interlude between 6th
and 7th seal in chapter 7 as 144,000 were sealed
Here is another interval between 6th
and 7th trumpet judgements.
a. Another Mighty Angel
i-Who is this mighty angel with the little
book ? (Is it Christ ?)
a-In the OT Christ appeared
frequently as the “Angel of the Lord”
b-After His incarnation (our humanity)
He is not referred to as an angel
c-After His crucifixion and
resurrection, He is in His glorified state
d-Stephen saw Him in Acts 7:55,56
& Saul saw Him in Acts 9:3-5
e-In Revelation, He is seen as
the Son of Man & as the Lamb
f-In Revelation, Christ does not
come back to earth till after the tribulation
g-Another angel means that it is
another of the same kind like in Rev 5:2
h-John did not fall down and
worship the angel, as if it were Christ
ii-How is this Mighty Angel Clothed and How Does He Appear ??
a-In
a cloud -Uniform of a
special one sent from Christ
b-Rainbow -Representing the mercy
covenant of the flood
c-Face
as the sun -From being in the
presence of God (Ex 34:29)d-Feet pillars of fire -Solemn announcement that judgement is coming
b. The Little Book Open
(little Rom 9:28)
Remember
The 7 sealed book of Rev 5
a-In
chapter 5 the book was closed (sealed) here it is open (seals broken)
b-The
book was in God’s Hand then Christ’s and is given to the angel
c-The
title deed to the earth. He is coming to take His possession*Lv25:23
c. Sea and Earth is Claimed
One
foot on the sea and one foot on the land. Ps 24:1 claims the earth for God
d. Cried with a loud voice (Vs 3-4)
The
7 thunders are God’s “AMEN” (Psalm 29) the voice of God occurs 7 times
Interestingly,
John is forbidden to write what was uttered by these voices
e. Time No Longer (Vs 5-7)
He
raised his hand as if to take an oath and swears by Him- Swears by God &
not himself -there could be none
greater(Heb 6:13)
Time no
longer means there will be no more delay (answering Rev 6:10)
The mystery
of God = the long delayed fulfillment, Christ taking His kingdom
f. The Little Book Eaten
The voice of Christ telling John to take the book from
the angel. John goes to the angel and is again told to take the book (Never
forced/willing). John is told this time to eat the book (1-Ezekiel 3:1-4 &
2-Jeremiah 15:16 & 3-John 6:51,54,55,63)
God’s
messenger to take God’s message as food…and take it into his life
God’s Word
is sweet Psalm 119:103
1-Sweet
to receive a message from God and be chosen as messenger
2-Bitter
because the message may be a warning or rebuke
1- John was God’s chosen messenger
1- John was having to warn of the Judgment of God
3-John will be writing to the world and preach a message in Words
