PEACTIOAL THEOSOPHY 3

me, I thought I would look up the meaning of
the word Theosophy, for from the practical side
the word Divine Wisdom did not quite satisfy
me. I got my answer for I found that Theo-
sophy meant ((Wise in the things of God " ; this
answer was very illuminating and helpful to
me and I pass it on to you. It carried me back
to my childhood when I had pondered long and
deeply on the meaning of the creation; for I
was asked to take literally the story so beauti-
fully related in the first chapter of Genesis. We
are told there of the different (t days " on which
God created the light, when He divided the
water above the firmament from the water
below the firmament, and made dry land appear,
and then followed the creation of the herbs and
fruits and seeds, and the sun to rule by day, and
then all the moving creatures and the birds and
cattle; and after each " day's " work God saw
that "it was good," and lastly He created man,
" male and female created He them " and God
blessed them and gave everything that He had
created into the charge of man. Then we are
told that God once more looked at everything
that He had made and "behold it was very
good ". When I realised that Theosophy meant
wise in the things of God, I naturally asked my-
self what are God's things and where are they ?
