would not be able to resist. How can one
account for such an idea unless it is a memory ?
I know in some cases the word instinct is sug-
gested, but that scarcely applies to drugs or to
wine.

In talking of God's Plan I followed a sketch
of five stages, pointing out that the race was
now working on towards the third of these
stages. We can take these stages in a more
personal way, and let us for a moment consider
these stages as steps on the ladder of evolution.
First, however, I must take you yet further back
to the lower forms of life. We have seen that
the source of life is the same for all forms, in
fact, we have seen that God's life flows through
all forms of life from the atom to the man; and
I refer you to the story of the creation which,
if taken symbolically, is a true story of man's

from within all forms of life burst out one after
another, and out of one another, all in turn, all
in order, and the life force developed in each
