^ BILL

To be entitled An Act to defino and punish conspiracy against the

Confederate States.

1 Tht Congress of the Confederate States of America do enact, That

2 if two or more persons within any State or Territory of tho

3 Confederate States shall conspire to subvert, overturn nr rL^qtroy,

4 by force, the Government of the Confederate States, or to oppose,

5 by force, the execution of any law of the Confederate States, or,

6 by force to hinder, delay, or prevent the execution of any law

7 of the Confederate States, or to seize, take, p383e33, or destroy

8 any property of the Confederate States, against its own consent,

9 or to prevent, delny or hinder, by force, or fraud, the transport- ]i) at', ,11 uf ^iin-.l'r'- or m.-'n to the army of the C mf--'d»»r\tn States, 11 or to ic.-.lruy or lujare any ro.id, boat, cngin cnipioycd 18 in such transportation, or to hold any secret communication or IS intercourse with an enemy of the Confederate State'^, or to aid 14 or abet the enemy in hi^"-^'- -v. .-« t^,- rr^nf,. l..r .to Sf^»es, or

15 perEODS in rebellion against the same, or to promote dieobedience,

16 mutiny or desertion in the army of the Confederate States, or

17 annoy the soldiers in the military service, each and every

18 person so offending shall be guilty of a high crime, and, upom

19 conviction thereof, shall be punished by fine not exceeding fiv«

20 thousand dollars, and shall be imprisoned, with or without labor,

21 not exceeding five years.
