EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This book is not designed to be placed in the hands of children for them to study, but to assist those who have charge of the children.

The president, or one whom she shall appoint, is expected to read a question, and another appointee read the answer, and all the children present repeat the answer in concert. As soon as the children can answer the questions the prompting may be dispensed with.

One chapter, or part of a chapter, may be taken for a les- son, and be repeated week after week until it is well com- mitted.

In getting up this book, historical order has not been the aim; but to impress the minds of the children with important facts contained in the Old and New Testaments.

E. R. Snow Smith.
