The Black Angels July 27, 2006 The Empty Bottle Chicago Source: CSB > Core Sound -20db attenuator cable > Core Sound bass rolloff battery box > M1 (Standing one person back from the stage, center.) Transfer: DA302 > M-Audio Audiophile USB > PC; trimmed and faded in Audition; tracked with CDWave > FLAC Frontend > FLAC (level 8) Setlist: 1. pre-show 2. You In Color 3. Dhir Rishi 4. Young Men Dead 5. Bloodhounds on My Trail 6. Prodigal Sun 7. Empire 8. Manipulation 9. Better Off Alone 10. Sniper at the Gates of Heaven 11. Black Grease 12. Ronettes Notes: Floor tom mic problem audible for most of the show: static/distortion every time she hits the floor tom. It was also audible in the previous band's set, so I know it wasn't my problem. During the soundcheck/pre-show track you can hear that the sound guy is checking it, but apparently decides not to do anything, or that he can't do anything. For the first 30-45 seconds of the first song I had the levels set too high, so the tape overloaded when the full band kicked in. Lowered in Audition, but of course the overload distortion is still there for about 5 seconds. After that the rattle/static you're hearing is the bad floor tom mic coming through the PA. Recorded and transferred by O. Nelson. Art by O. Nelson. The scanned setlist is from the stage. Not sure what the tuning note means. The scanned poster was on the walls at the gig, and for sale on the merch table. I took one from the wall and bought one. It's 19 inches tall, but I only included the smaller one so no one is tempted to try selling fakes. Not that anyone who'd do that would be stopped by the smaller jpg. This is not to be sold by anyone for any amount of money or other profit. Please do not encode to lossy compression schemes such as mp3, except for personal use.
