MORA COUNTY

Stock Growers iissociation

I PREAMBLE.

^ Realizing- the fact that the interests of all

I persons g;rowing- cattle or sheep in Mora county

y are identical and the further fact that said in-

(^ forests can be more thoroughly and profitably

\' advanced by an organization than by individual etfort, the following ag-reeraent is entered into,

\ to-wit :

We, the udersigned, agree and do hereby form

\ an association for protecting- and advancing

V the interests of the stock growers of Mora ^ county, and do hereby adopt and bind ourselves \ to be governed by the tenor and effect of the

following :

^ Section I. This organization shall be called

K the MORA COUNTY STOCK GROWERS AS-

! SOCIATION.

Sec. II. The otficers of this association shall

[ be a President, two Vice-Presidents, a Treas-

J urer and a secretary, and said officers shall

(^ constitute a Board of Directors, who shall serve

)' untill the annual meeting in 1881.

V Sec. III. The election of officers of this as-

V sociation shall take place annually on the court

V day of the summer term, and any vacancy in

V said Board of Directors may be filled at any reg-

V ular meeting.

y Sec. IV. Any person desiring to become a

i member of this association may make applica-

7 tion to any member thereof, whose duty it

.V shall be to present the name of the applicant

meeting. The members present shall ballot for or against admission, and the applicant shall be admitted, if a majority of two-thirds of the members vote in favor of his admission, and his name enrolled upon the list of members.

Sec. V. Each and every person upon being admitted to membership in this ass iciation, shall take the oath administered by the Presi- dent to abide by all the by-laws and to do every- thing in his power to forward the interests of the association, and shall pay the Treasurer the sum of one dollar.

Sec. VI. Every member shall report to the Secretary his brands and ear marks, and it shall be the duty of the Secretary to make a record of the same.

Sec. VII. The Board of Directors shall have power to make assessments sulficient to meet all necessary expenses. Provided such assess- ment does not exceed 1 per cent, per annum of the market value of the stock annually and all assessments shall be based upon the number and market value of stock owned by each member as stated under the oath of member- ship.

Sec. VIII. Wheneverthe Board of Directors shall make an assessment it shall be the duty of the Secretary to make a certificate for each member, showing the number of stock he is as- sessed upon, the rate per head and the total amount. The Secretary shall also make a re- cord of such assessment, with the names of all the members and the amounts assessed against them respectively ; the SL'crotary shall forward said cert flcates to the members, and within thirty days from forwarding of said certificates each member shall pay into the hands of the Treasurer the amount assessed against him.

Sec. IX. The President, acting as far as possible on the advise of his co-directors, shall have power to employ one or more persons who shall perform such duties as the President may direct. He shall have power also to offer a re- ) ward, not to exceed one hundred dollars, for -^ any purpose, whenever he deems it to be to the interest of this association to do so, and shall also have power to appoint some suitable mem- ber (unpaid) to assist him in such work. All ex- penses necessarily incurred in employing such persons and offering such reward shall be paid by this association as provided in Section 8.

Sec. X. The books and papers belonging to this association shall be in charge of the Secre- tary, who shall keep the same in some conven- ient place, and said books and papers shall, at all times, be subject to inspection by the mem^ bers of this association.

who shall put his name on bail bonds for any person arrested on suspicion of stock stealing shall have his name stricken off from the list of members and a notice of the same published in the Territorial papers.

Sec. XII. That trustworthy members shall be appointed in certain places who shall receive all mavoricks found during- roundups by mem- bers in their vicinity and who shall sell the same for the hig-hest cash price and pay the money to the Treasurer and should an owner afterwards claim the mavorics, upon sufficient proof, the Treasurer shall refund him the market value.

Sec. XIII. It shall bo the duty of any mem- ber who shall find calves still unmarked with their mr)ther, during- raundups to put the same ear mark as the mother has on the calf, the same to hold g-ood with ewes and lambs.

Sec. XIV. It shall be the duty of any mem- ber to g-ive all assistance in his power to any other member who may be in pvirsuit of thieves or stolen stock.

Sec. XV. The Treasurer shall have charge of all funds belong-ing- to this association and shall payout the same upon the order of the Presi- dent countersigned by the Secretary.

Sec. XVI. All bills ag-ainst this association shall be examined by the Board of Directors and when allowed by them shall be paid out of any funds in the hands of the Treasurer as provided in section ten.

Sec. XVII. Any member of this association may withdraw and have his name stricken from the list (^f members by notifying- the Board of Directors and paying- all duos up to date of such notice.

Sec. XVIII. These by-laws are subject to amendment or revision by vote of the major- ity of the members present at any reg-ular meeting-.
