Jeb's first solo CD, Hopes & Dreams, has been long awaited and much anticipated by those who have come to savor the philosophical musical poetry he has created through Donna the Buffalo. But his repertoire is far more vast than that catalog even begins to tap. This recording of his CD release, which sounds quite nice after some minor distortion problems in the first track, features a cast of musicians that includes members of Donna but delves into more diverse realms. As a result, is a perfect live extension and companion to the studio disc. My only wish might have been that Jeb had employed this fuller sound more often on Hopes & Dreams, as it is my opinion that the ensemble tracks on that recording do far more to extend the meaning of his work than some of the solo outings.
