EDITOi=^IAI_ MOTE

The " Genealogioal Society of Central New York " was organized in 1898. Monthly meetings have been held from that time. Various papers have been read at these meet- ings, which are valuable contributions to genealogy and local history. It is the purpose of the Society to j)reserve some or all of these papers by printing them, and also to print various records not yet available to the public, espe- cially records of the character contained in this Bulletin. It is also intended to print family genealogies in part and various other genealogical matter. It is proposed to select for each Bulletin an editor having especial knowledge or facilities in respect to the subject matter.

The present officers of the Society are: Watson Gill, President; Seymour H. Stone, Vice-President; D. J. Francis, Secretary; (E. P. Howe, Acting Secretary in the absence of Mr. Francis); G. L. Merrill, Treasurer, all of Syracuse, N. Y.

The following records of marriages, baptisms and admis- sions to the First Presbyterian Church of Syracuse (with the exception of a few later entries) wore made by the Rev. John Watson Adams, D.D., pastor of the church from its organization in 1826 to his death in 1850.

2 Early Records of First Presbyterian Church, Syracuse

Quite a number of fully verified additions and corrections have been made. These records extend from an early period in the history of the village, to a short time after the incorporation of the city of Syracuse, and embrace the names of very many of the pioneers of this place. It is believed that they constitute a collection of genealogical and historical facts of considerable value.
